6 Best Vegan Breads at Trader Joe’s
In this section, I will go through my picks for the 6 best vegan breads available from Trader Joe’s. I tried to include a selection of different styles of bread from Brioche, French, Muffins, Ciabatta, etc.
1. Vegan Brioche Loaf
Due to brioches’ classic buttery taste, brioche doesn’t tend to usually be vegan. That is no longer the case due to this amazing vegan brioche loaf now stocked at Trader Joe’s.
This vegan brioche is pre-sliced and is made from plant-based butter that is derived from coconut oil, sunflower oil, and cocoa butter. This brioche loaf is “soft and mildly sweet, with just the kind of light and tender crumb texture that brioche is celebrated for”.
This means whether you want to use this vegan brioche for morning breakfast, for an afternoon sandwich or as an ingredient in a sweet vegan dessert such as bread pudding or French toast, Trader Joe’s have you covered.
You can check out Trader Joe’s vegan brioche loaf on Trader Joe’s website here.
2. Organic French Bread
Next up we have the organic French bread at Trader Joe’s. Even though this French bread isn’t labeled as vegan it does have a super simple vegan ingredient list. Its ingredients include:
- organic unbleached enriched flour
- water
- sea salt
- yeast
- organic malted barley flour
No eggs, dairy, or honey in sight. And I adore the fact that this French roll is organic.
This vegan organic French loaf is the perfect addition to a picnic in the park. Just fill it with veggies, vegan cheese, or keep it simple and spread it with some vegan butter. As for my personal favorite use for this bread – use it to dip into some Trader Joe’s amazing vegan dips (if you want to read more about some of the amazing vegan dips at Trader Joe’s make sure to check out this post I wrote – 76 of the Best Vegan Items at Trader Joe’s 2022).
You can find Trader Joe’s organic French bread on the Trader Joe’s website here.
3. Organic French Rolls
If you love the sound of Trader Joe’s organic French bread above but want yours to be portioned into 6 delicious rolls, then look no further than these organic French rolls from Trader Joe’s. They have the same vegan ingredient list as the organic French roll. These organic rolls are “soft, crusty, artisan-style rolls“.
These rolls can be served at the dinner table and used to make sandwiches or sliders.
You can find Trader Joe’s organic French rolls on the Trader Joe’s website here.
4. Classic English Muffins
As someone who grew up in the UK, let me tell you, you can’t go wrong with an English muffin. Toasted and piled high with wilted spinach, grilled tomato, and garlic is how I love to eat mine.
The gluten-free muffins at Trader Joe’s aren’t vegan as they contain eggs, but these classic English muffins are egg, dairy, and honey free. The muffins themselves have a soft, slightly spongy, sourdough-like texture.
You can find Trader Joe’s classic English muffins on the Trader Joe’s website here.
*The classic English at Trader Joe’s contains sugar – it has not been verified as to if this sugar has been processed with bone char or not. I will leave this to your comfort level/discretion*
5. Everything Ciabatta Rolls
The Everything Ciabatta rolls at Trader Joe’s are made for Trader Joe’s by a kosher-certified bakery. This Ciabatta rolls offer “everything you could hope for in a classic Ciabatta – a tender & toothsome crumb, a moist interior with small air pockets throughout, a substantial crust, etc. – in convenient “Roll” form“. These rolls are then, as the name may suggest, topped with an “Everything” seasoning blend.
Trader Joe’s everything Ciabatta rolls have a lovely simple vegan ingredient list. This ingredient list consists of unbleached enriched flour, water, sea salt, sesame seeds, dried minced onion, yeast, dried minced garlic, poppy seeds, and malted barley flour.
You can find everything ciabatta rolls on the Trader Joe’s website here.
6. Vegan Banana Bread with Walnuts
The final entry on this list is a slightly different entry – it is vegan banana bread with walnuts. Okay, so this entry is designed to be more of a “dessert” type item. However, nevertheless, it is a vegan bread product.
I have to say I was super sad when Trader Joe’s discontinued their vegan vanilla cupcakes (you know the ones with vanilla frosting and colorful sprinkles on top) – but this sadness was reduced somewhat when I discovered the vegan banana bread with walnuts.
I don’t know why it took me so long to try it bearing in mind it has been on Trader Joe’s shelves for over a decade. Sweet, moist, and packed with all the banana and walnut flavors. What’s not to love about this vegan banana walnut bread?
Trader Joe’s recommends savoring this vegan banana bread by itself or even topped with crunchy almond butter (mind blown!). You can find the vegan banana bread with walnuts on Trader Joe’s website here.
