Vegan Wines at Walmart – yes, that’s right today we are going to be talking about the behemoth which is Walmart. Founded in 1962 by Sam Walton and amassing a fortune of $190 billion for the Walmart family – Walmart is one of the biggest retail chains in America and the World. But, what about its vegan wine offering? How does the “everything retailer” stack up? In a string of recent posts, I have covered vegan wine from stores like Trader Joe’s, Sprouts, Aldi (including all 97 of their vegan wines), BevMo!,and Whole Foods Market. The question is how does the biggest retailer of them all (Walmart) stack up against the competition? Time to find out.
There are vegan wines available at Walmart. Walmart sells vegan red wines – from red blends to zinfandel to cabernet sauvignon. Walmart also has some vegan chardonnays, as well as vegan rose and even vegan fruit wines. There is a vegan wine to suit any palate at Walmart.
But First, Why Is Wine Not Vegan?
First, a little recap. In my previous post, Why Is Wine Not Vegan – How To Know The Truth I talked about everything a vegan needs to know about wine. To give you a quick recap: most wines are not vegan. This is due to the common use of non-vegan fining agents (such as Isinglass, Egg albumin, and Milk Proteins) in the clarification process. Fining agents are added to wines during clarification to clump together unwanted molecules, such as excess yeast and tannins which can then be easily removed during the filtration process.
And, yes, whilst there are vegan fining agents available the most commonly used remain the non-vegan versions.
How Can I Make Sure My Wine Is Vegan?
“How can I make sure the wine I buy is vegan?”. Now that is a great question. Wine labeling laws mean that winemakers are not required to list ingredients or fining agents used on wine bottles. This can make it nearly impossible to know what wines are and what wines are not vegan. Some good news is that winemakers are increasingly labeling their wines as “vegan” or “non-fined”. Sadly, the majority continue not to put anything on the labels.
This led me to want to write an article to help you sort through all of these non-vegan issues and pick a vegan wine from your favorite grocery store – in this case, Walmart.

10 Best Vegan Wines at Walmart – Item-by-Item
Below is an item-by-item breakdown of my personal 10 favorite vegan wines from Walmart. In case you don’t want to make a trip to Walmart and want wine delivered directly to your house instead, I have included links to the wines on Instacart.
1. Menage a Trois Soft Red Blend
I have talked about Menage a Trois several times before here at Vegan Bev HQ. This is mainly because they have several vegan wines, but also because their marketing lines are amazing. Menage a Trois Soft Red Blend “is a smooth, seductive red blend that caresses you with every sip.” I mean come on! If that doesn’t make you want to take a sip, I don’t know what will. This red blend is made of Pinot Noir, Malbec, and Petite Sirah.
This wine has fragrances of cherries and violets as well as cherry, raspberry, rose, and spice flavors. It would go fabulously with a vegan dark chocolate dessert.
Find it on Instacart here.
2. Bogle Chardonnay
Bogle is another wine I have talked about before on Vegan Bev HQ. This Bogle Chardonnay provides notes of honeycomb and vanilla, followed by pear and apple. “The finish lingers long and soft, like the wafting aromas of grandma’s warm apple pie.” Sold.
This is a super versatile wine that will go with pretty much any vegan meal.
Find it on Instacart here.
3. Stella Rosa Black
Stella Rosa has some great vegan wines under its belt. This Stella Rosa Black is no exception – a semi-sweet and semi-sparkling red blend this is a great option if you fancy a slightly unusual (sparkling reds are rare) low-alcohol option. It provides all the red berry notes of raspberry, blackberry, and blueberry.
Find it on Instacart here.
4. Stella Rosa Watermelon Wine
This is the second entry from Stella Rosa on this list and it is another unusual one. This time a refreshing fruity option for the summer months – Stella Rosa Watermelon. This is also semi-sweet and semi-sparkling, but this time with fresh and crisp watermelon flavors. Perfect for a summer picnic or party.
Stella Rosa also does some other great fruit flavors like peach and pineapple – which are also vegan and available at Walmart.
Find it on Instacart here.
5. Menage a Trois Midnight Dark Red Wine Blend
The second entry is also from Menage a Trois. This time it is the Midnight Dark Red Blend. This “luxurious red blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, and Petit Verdot wraps you up in a velvety embrace. Blackberry and plush spiced plum flavors seduce your palate, while hints of mocha and exotic spice linger on your lips like a stolen kiss. It’s silky and smooth with a long finish. Merlot adds a plush, velvety texture, Cabernet Sauvignon offers elegance and power, Petite Sirah lends inky intensity and Petit Verdot imparts a deep violet color and concentrated fruit.”

6. Yes Way Rose Wine
First, I love the name and packaging (take a peek) – it really does stand out on the shelf. This is a dry French wine made of a Grenache and Syrah blend with notes of strawberry, white peach, and citrus. This is a great all-year-round wine – it would go wonderfully with grilled Mediterranean vegetables.
Find it on Instacart here.
7. 7 Deadly Zins Zinfandel
Yes, 7 Deadly Zins is not only a clever pun, but it also made it to point number 7 on the list (literally this was sheer coincidence and it worked out well for me).
There are two things I particularly love about this wine brand: (1) it is vegan; and (2) its backstory – “7 Deadly was born from a Catholic school upbringing and our winemaker’s lust for hedonistically seductive wine.”
This is a full-bodied and complex wine with flavors of currant, spice, toffee, and dark fruit.
Find it on Instacart here.
8. Beringer Main & Vine Chardonnay
This chardonnay provides all the honeyed apricot, ripe stone fruits, and bright citrus notes a vegan could wish for. As someone who lives in California, I love the description of this wine as “a refreshing wine, full of lush fruit flavors and aromas that conjure up the bounty and sunshine of California“.
Find it on Instacart here.
9. Three Thieves Cabernet
This Three Thieves Cabernet is full-bodied with notes of fresh cherries and toasted vanilla, dark berry, blackcurrant, and warm spice. This wine received Top 100 Best Buys of 2019 from Wine Enthusiast, so is a good find. This wine would go great with an impossible or beyond burger (depending on what team you are on).
“The Three Thieves believe that great wine is not a pleasure reserved for kings, but rather a privilege of life – something for everyone to enjoy.” Love it.
Find it on Instacart here.
10. Napa Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon
This is a dry wine with notes of black currant, blackberry, herb, and cocoa, as well as earthy and toffee notes. This Cabernet is aged in French oak barrels for 20 months.
Find it on Instacart here.
Vegan Wines at Walmart – The Final Sip
Vegan Wines at Walmart – I must admit when I started writing and researching this, I wasn’t even sure I was going to be able to find any vegan wines at Walmart. Why? Well, this opinion was mostly informed by my local Walmart. When it comes to anything vegan the selection at my local Walmart is pretty sparing (it’s limited to that one freezer door panel in the frozen aisle) and they don’t even have an alcohol selection. However, I have found the selection varies across different Walmart stores. The fact that you can even find vegan wines online is impressive and means you don’t even have to go to the store to find vegan wine. Just click and order online. Thank you, technology.
