Best Cashew Milk – in this post I wanted to get into plant-based milk alternatives, specifically Cashew Milk. Yes, that’s right I am going to be talking about everyone’s favorite half-moon nut – the cashew, and all things Cashew Milk related. One of the most creamy-based nut milk available on the market, Cashew Milk is a great dairy alternative as well as being a nut milk alternative to Soy, Rice, Almond, and Coconut Milk. Slightly harder to find than other plant-based kinds of milk, cashew has increasingly become popular due to its creamier texture. Its creaminess is something which I personally really like about the milk. In this post I wanted to share with you some commonly asked FAQs on Cashew Milk as well as what, I think, are the best Cashew Milk options available. But first, what Cashew Milk is even available? Cashew Milk – Frequently Asked Questions
What is Cashew Milk?
Cashew Milk is plant-based milk made from cashew nuts and water. Like other plant-based milk, it is made by soaking cashews in water for a period and then blending. This blended mixture is then strained (either in a strainer or a cheesecloth) to produce the final plant-based milk.
What does Cashew Milk Taste Like?
Naturally thicker in texture Cashew Milk has a sweet, slightly nutty/earthy taste with a creamy mouthful. I would personally rate the flavor profile as mild – Hemp Milk for example has a stronger flavor profile. If you like Almond milk, then you will most likely like the flavor profile of Cashew Milk.
Does Cashew Milk Contain Sugar?
Cashew Milk does not contain any naturally occurring sugars. However, some Cashew Milk brands add sugar to their Cashew Milk. This is something to look out for in most plant-based milk – a lot are sweetened with sugar. If you want natural milk, always check the ingredients, and go for the unsweetened version.
What Tastes Better – Almond or Cashew Milk?
As a general rule, almond and Cashew Milk have similar flavor profiles, but Cashew Milk is creamier than Almond Milk which tends to be thinner in texture.
Almond Milk Vs Cashew Milk – What is Better For You?
In the below table, I summarize the typical nutritional information for both Almond and Cashew Milks. Both are similar when it comes to nutrition. Often for me, it is a preference of taste and recipe to decide if I want to use Cashew or Almond Milk.
Cashew Milk also tends to be lower in calories than dairy milk, coconut milk, and oat milk.

8 of The Best Cashew Milks
1. Elmhurst 1925 Unsweetened Cashew Milk
This isn’t the first time I have talked about Elmhurst here at Vegan Bev HQ. I have mentioned them before in my post about the best Hemp Milk (see How To Find The Best Hemp Milk Available).
Well, Elmhurst doesn’t just make Hemp Milk they also make Cashew Milk (as well as other awesome dairy-free kinds of milk). What I like about this Elmhurst Cashew Milk is the fact it is made with just two ingredients. Yes, you read that correctly – just two ingredients.
These two ingredients are filtered water and cashews. The fact it is made from just water and cashews also means it contains no gums or emulsifiers.
As this is such a simply made Cashew Milk and has no sweetness it would work particularly well if you wanted Cashew Milk for savory dishes such as soups or sauces.
You can try out this awesome two-ingredient Cashew Milk from Amazon here.
2. Forager Project Organic Unsweetened Cashew Milk
I chose to add Forager to the list because its Cashew Milk is completely organic. There is one caveat, this Forager Cashew Milk does not contain any sugar, but does contain coconut cream as well as cashews.
The good news is that the coconut cream adds a real creaminess to the milk, making it perfect for a creamy cup of coffee. However, if you don’t love the taste of coconut then this Cashew Milk probably isn’t for you. It also contains gluten-free oats – which adds to the creamy texture.
You can try this creamy coconut Cashew Milk from Amazon here.
3. Pacific Foods Cashew Unsweetened
Another brand big in this space, I have talked about Pacifica before in my post about the best hemp milk (see How To Find The Best Hemp Milk Available). Pacifica knows how to roll out awesome plant-based milk alternatives.
This Cashew Milk is no exception. It is made with organic cashews and has the added benefit of being shelf-stable. As it is shelf-stable it does contain gums though, so if you are looking for gum-free Cashew Milk then Elmhurst or Forager would be better options for you.
If you want to try out this unsweetened shelf-stable Cashew Milk you can on Amazon here.
4. Pacific Foods Cashew Original
If a shelf-stable Cashew Milk made from organic cashews sounds like your kind of thing, but you want a bit of sweetness in your Cashew Milk then the Pacific original Cashew Milk may be the one for you. It is sweetened with cane sugar. Fear, not the cane sugar is organic so is vegan (no bone char here).
You can try this sweet Cashew Milk from Amazon here.
5. Organic Traditions Cashew Milk Powder
This Organic Traditions Cashew Milk powder is super convenient as it essentially functions like a creamer – it dissolves instantly so can be used as a creamer alternative in coffee or even in savory dishes such as soup. This Cashew Milk powder is unsweetened and can be purchased via Amazon here.
6. Z Natural Foods Cashew Milk Powder
Do you fancy whipping up your own Cashew Milk, but you want a helping hand? Step in Z Natural Foods Cashew Milk Powder.
This cashew powder by Z Natural Foods is made from simply two ingredients – cashews and inulin. Inulin is a prebiotic fiber, and it stops the cashew powder from clumping together.
To make 8 ounces of Cashew Milk simply mix one ounce of this Cashew Milk powder with water. This cashew powder is unflavored and unsweetened. It is a particularly great option for somebody traveling who still wants to enjoy Cashew Milk. You can try it out from Amazon here.
7. Silk Unsweetened Cashew Milk
Silk unsweetened Cashew Milk is a great easily accessible Cashew Milk that is available at many of the main grocery stores. Just one thing to note – it does contain small amounts of almonds.
You can try it from Instacart here.
8. Silk Protein Original Pea, Almond & Cashew Milk
If your main priority for your Cashew Milk is high protein content then this Silk Pea, Almond, and Cashew Milk is the milk for you.
It contains a whopping 10 grams of protein per serving. This is thanks to the addition of almonds and pea protein to the Cashew Milk. You can try this protein-rich Cashew Milk from Instacart here.
What is The Best Cashew Milk For Coffee?
What is the best Cashew Milk for Coffee? Probably the most important question in this post, as a coffee lover I can attest that getting the wrong plant-based milk in your coffee can ruin the whole thing. So, what is the best Cashew Milk coffee?
In my opinion, Forager Cashew Milk works best in coffee. The added coconut cream and oat milk make it super creamy. You can try Forager cashew milk from Amazon here.
Best Cashew Milks – The Final Sip
Best Cashew Milk – when it comes to plant-based milk Cashew Milk is one that adds something different to the category. Its thicker and creamier texture makes it really stand out in the category and making it my go-to plant-based milk for coffee or recipes calling for thicker milk (think vegan pancakes). Cashew Milk is only a recent addition to the plant-based milk offering making it slightly less available than other types and brands of plant-based milk. However, the above list gives you a great selection of Cashew Milks you should easily be able to find in your local grocery store. You will be able to find Silk Cashew Milk in most mainstream grocery stores.
…now you know.
