Vegan Sparkling Wines – it sparkles, it bubbles and it marks special occasions. Today at Vegan Bev HQ I am going to be sharing with you my top picks for the best Vegan Sparkling Wines out there for every type of budget. From Prosecco to Champagne, to Spumante and just regular old “sparkling wine”, I will be listing the best vegan sparkling wines you can get from your favorite grocery stores, including such locations at Trader Joe’s, Sprouts, Target, BevMo, Whole Foods Market, Pavilions, Wine.com, Walmart, Costco, and Instacart. No special occasion, wedding, or graduation will ever be non-vegan again. It is time to crack out those vegan bubbles.

But, first and foremost, are sparkling wines such as champagne, etc even available?

What Vegan Sparkling Wines Available?

As a general rule, vegan sparkling wines are available at all the major grocery stores. From vegan Champagne to vegan Prosecco to vegan Spumante to vegan sparkling wine to even vegan almond Champagne, there is a vegan sparkling wine available for every palate and every budget.

Is Vegan Sparkling Wine Vegan?

I covered everything you need to know about Champagne and Sparkling Wines in my previous post: Is Champagne Vegan? Revealing The Truth Behind The Bubbles. When it comes to vegan sparkling wine this is what you need to know:

  • Not all champagne is vegan. This is because Champagne is made from wine and many wines are clarified in a process called “fining” using non-vegan ingredients such as Gelatin, Isinglass (dried fish bladders), Casein (Milk Protein), Egg Whites, and/or Skimmed Milk. However, many of the most well-heard brands of champagne are vegan as they use vegan fining agents such as Carbon (Charcoal), Bentonite Clay, PVPP or allow for the wine base to naturally fine over time.

If you would like to learn more about exactly how sparkling wines are made, the difference between “champagnes” and other “sparkling wines” and a list of all the main vegan and non-vegan champagnes (SPOILER ALERT: Bollinger drinkers – Bollinger is not vegan) then check out my post Is Champagne Vegan? Revealing The Truth Behind The Bubbles. Yes, I know that is a second plug for my Champagne article, but it really does cover everything you need to know about whether champagne or sparkling wine is vegan or not.

Best Vegan Sparkling Wines – Item-by-Item

I have included a breakdown of each of the listed wines in the above table below. I have also included the prices of each. Please note these are the prices at the time of writing this post. Prices may change in the future.

Best Vegan Sparkling Wine at Trader Joe’s

Vegan Sparkling Wines - Trader Joe's

1. Trader Joe’s Blanc de Blancs French Sparkling

I have talked about Trader Joe’s Blanc de Blancs French Sparkling before in my post bout the best vegan wines at everybody’s favorite grocery store…Trader Joe’s (see 10 Best Wines at Trader Joe’s You Need To Try). In this case, the name of the sparkling wine literally means “white of whites“. This French sparkling wine is fresh, crisp, and fruity with yeasty and delicate flowery aromas.

The price of this Sparkling is also only $5.99 (plus tax) making it a great budget choice. You can’t order online from Trader Joe’s so you have to go into the store to get this one. It is a good excuse to go to Trader Joe’s.

Best Vegan Sparkling Wine at Sprouts

2. Menage a Trois Prosecco

I have also talked about Menage a Trois several times before here at Vegan Bev HQ. Usually, it is one of their delicious red blends such as their Soft Blend wine or their Midnight Dark Blend (both of which I talked about in my post about the best vegan wines at Walmart – see Introducing The 10 Best Vegan Wines at Walmart).

This time it’s not a red blend I am talking about but their Prosecco. Menage a Trois Prosecco is available at Sprouts. This Prosecco is from Italy (as all Proseccos are) and it provides citrus and green apple notes with a floral fragrance.

You can purchase a bottle of this delicious Italian Prosecco from Instacart here and you can learn more about vegan wines at Sprouts in my post: The Best Vegan Wine At Sprouts.

Best Vegan Sparkling Wine at Target

3. Verdi Spumante

Soft, fruity, and zesty, this Spumante from Target is also imported from Italy. Whereas Prosecco comes from the Northeast of Italy, Spumante comes from the Piedmont region of Italy (the Northwest of Italy). Spumantes are much more refreshing, fruiter, and lighter-bodied making them an interesting sparkling wine choice.

You can grab a bottle of this Verdi Spumante from Instacart here. When picking this bottle be extra careful to pick only the original Verdi Spumante and not the Spumante Rosa or Sparkletinis as they are not vegan according to Barnivore (see below references section).

If Target is your thing, then you should also know that Target has a good selection of vegan wines including an exclusive vegan (and very affordable) wine range called California Roots. You can learn more about it in my post: 15 Vegan Wines At Target You Need To Try.

Best Vegan Sparkling Wine at BevMo

4. Bellissima Prosecco

Bellissima means “most beautiful” which makes sense as the brand was launched by one of the World’s most beautiful women – Christie Brinkley. Bellissima is a certified vegan. I repeat Certified Vegan. This is one of the few wines I have come across that is certified vegan.

Bellissima’s ethos is summarized by the belief that it is “vital to preserve the natural beauty of the World around us.”

Bellissima prosecco is made with organic grapes and is “aromatic and elegant, with delicate scents of green apple and freshly baked bread.” You can treat yourself to a bottle of this beautiful vegan prosecco from Instacart here.

Best Vegan Sparkling Wine at Whole Foods Market

5. Pizzolato Prosecco Fields Brut

This isn’t the first time I have talked about Pizzolato here at Vegan Bev HQ. This is for good reason – Pizzolato is certified vegan as well as being made from organic grapes. Yes, that is right there are now two certified vegan wines on this list (I officially think I am going to lose my mind in excitement).

This prosecco is a more acidic prosecco with all the green apple, strawberry, and citrus notes.

You can grab a bottle from Whole Foods Market via Amazon here. If you want to know what other vegan wines are available at Whole Foods Market you can find them in my post: 10 Vegan Wines at Whole Foods You Need To Know.

Best Vegan Sparkling Wine at Pavilions

6. FitVine Prosecco

FitVine makes healthier wines and uses cross-flow filtration to keep their wines vegan. This is an effective method for using that no non-vegan fining agents must be used during the manufacturing process. They also use a proprietary process that “takes out more tannins, sugars, and histamines” making it a healthier wine.

This prosecco is delicately bubbly with tropical flowers and pear aromas. Tasting notes include green apple and citrus.

You can grab a bottle of this better for you wine next time you are in Pavilions. Or you can have it delivered directly to your door via Wine.com here.

Best Vegan Sparkling Wine at Wine.com

7. Avaline Sparkling

Avaline is an amazing wine brand launched by Cameron Diaz. The aim of this wine brand is to make cleaner wine more accessible to everyone as well as to bring more transparency to the wine industry. That’s why Avaline wines are labeled as vegan-friendly on the front of their bottles.

This sparkling wine is crispy, dry, and refreshing.

You can support this transparent wine brand by purchasing a bottle from wine.com here.

Best Vegan Sparkling Wine From Walmart

8. Wilson Creek Almond Champagne

The next entry on the list is a slightly different bubbly entry. Think marzipan meets champagne and you are there (plus some caramelized sugar notes). If you love almonds these are the vegan bubbles for you. Slightly unusual, but worth a try.

You can pick up a bottle of this marzipan-y bubbly delight from Walmart here. Or if you want it delivered directly to your door then your wish is granted via Instacart here.

If you want to know what other vegan wines are available at Walmart, you can find out in my dedicated Walmart post here: Introducing The 10 Best Vegan Wines at Walmart.

Best Vegan Sparkling Wine at Costco

9. G H Mumm Brut Champagne Grand Cordon Brut

On this list so far, I have looked at Proseccos, sparkling wines, Spumantes, and even almond bubbles. What about some proper “Champagne”? You know, the real deal bubbles from France.

Enter G H Mumm – real champagne all the way from France. Best of all – it’s vegan.

This champagne is aged for a minimum of 20 months in Maison Mumm’s cellars. You can treat yourself to a bottle of this real (vegan) deal from Instacart here. Bear in mind this is one of the pricier bottles of Champagne coming out at around $50 a bottle.

Also, if you would like to learn more about exactly what proper Champagne is you can here in the post I wrote about Champagne – Is Champagne Vegan? The Truth Behind The Bubbles.

Best Vegan Champagne on Instacart

Vegan Sparkling Wines - Moet and Chandon

10. Moët & Chandon Imperial Brut Champagne

The last pick on this list is one of the heavy hitters in the world of sparkling wines. Enter Moët & Chandon Imperial Brut Champagne. A bottle to buy for those special occasions (or you just want to treat yourself because, you know – you are worth it).

This proper Champagne retails for around $60. It has all the fresh fruit, honey, brioche, and floral notes you could wish for in a bottle of champagne.

If a bottle of Moët & Chandon is called for then you can find a bottle on Instacart here.

Best Vegan Sparkling Wines – The Final Sip

Vegan Sparkling Wine – what have I learned from this post? Well, first there is actually a great selection of vegan sparkling wines available. Secondly, you can find vegan sparkling wines in a variety of styles from generally labeled “sparkling wines”, to Proseccos, to Spumante, and even to proper Champagnes. Lastly, when it comes to budget sparkling wines don’t discriminate on price. Yes, if you are looking for a proper well-known Champagne you are looking at paying $50 plus, but there are some great budget sparkling wines on this list going for $5.99. Just check out Trader Joe’s Blanc de Blancs French Sparkling (at entry no.1) or the Verdi Spumante from Target (at entry no.3). Both are, as I will personally attest to, great sparkling wines that you can easily buy every week. You don’t have to break the bank to enjoy everything that makes sparkling wines so special. Best of all – they are vegan too.

*You can double-check the vegan status of the above wines via the links in the below references.
