Over 100 of The Best Vegan Wines

100 Best Vegan Wines – in this post I wanted to share with you my top 100 vegan wines. If you are vegan and you love wine, then you will absolutely be no stranger to how difficult it can be to find vegan wine. So, I thought I would put together this post on over 100 vegan wines. Yes, you read that correctly – 100. Not 10, not 20, not 30, not 40, and not even 99, but 100. The big century. Because when it comes to being vegan and wine, I want you to have as much selection as possible.

As a general rule, there are great brands of vegan wine available to buy in all the major grocery stores, as well as online. This includes vegan white wine, red wine, rose wine, sparkling wine, champagne, prosecco, flavored wine, and boxed wine – there are vegan varieties of these wines to suit any palate and budget.

Vegan Wines – How I Put This List Together?

For this post, I have tried to focus on vegan wines that:

1. Are available to buy in some of the main grocery stores. To make this as helpful as possible I have listed some of the grocery stores they are available at (I did some serious scouring on Instacart); or

2. Wines that are easy to purchase online.

I have also listed the vegan status of each wine (i.e. if they are certified vegan, etc).

Why Are Wines Not Vegan?

This neatly brings me to my next question – why are wines not vegan? The short answer is due to the production process and the common use of non-vegan fining agents (such as Isinglass (dried fish bladders), gelatin, casein (milk proteins), and egg albumin being used during the clarification process.

If you want to have a long in-depth answer, I covered everything you need to know about the wine-making process in my post: Why Is Wine Not Vegan? How To Know The Truth.

How Can I Tell If Wine Is Vegan?

How can I tell if my wine is vegan? Well, that is the important question. The good news is that there are a few ways to tell:

1. Vegan certified wines – vegan certified wines are few and far between but I have listed the main ones I have come across; or

2. Wines labeled as “vegan” – Wines that are labeled on the bottle or company website as vegan/vegan-friendly (again not that common but some companies are starting to do this – which obviously makes our lives so much easier).

3. By checking BarnivoreBarnivore.com is an amazing resource that reaches out to alcohol companies to find out if their drinks are vegan; and

4. Unfined/natural wines – if a wine is not fined then it is almost always vegan. This is because non-vegan fining agents are almost always the culprit for making wine not vegan.

I have listed after each wine their vegan status (i.e. vegan certified or listed as vegan on Barnivore). I have also included the references (e.g. Barnivore listing) in the references at the end of this post.

Types of wines listed

Finally, I have divided the wines into:

A. Vegan White Wines

B. Vegan Red Wines

C. Vegan Rose Wines

D. Vegan Sparkling Wines

E. Vegan Proseccos

F. Vegan Champagnes

G. Vegan Flavored Wines

H. Vegan Boxed Wines

If you are looking for a specific type of wine feel free to skip to the relevant section for you.

Avaline is an amazing wine brand launched by Cameron Diaz. Avaline wines are “transparently produced, full of natural goodness, free of unwanted extras“. F. Vegan Champagne

1. Wilson Creek Almond Champagne

Vegan status – vegan on Barnivore.

Wilson Creek almond champagne has been mentioned a few times before here at Vegan Bev HQ. Why? Because it is a cross between champagne and marzipan. Oh, and it’s vegan. That’s why! Oh, and a double bonus it is easy to find in many grocery stores.

You can treat yourself to a bottle of these almonds vegan bubbles from Instacart here.

Grocery stores Wilson Creek Almond Champagne can often be found at Walmart, Smart & Final, BevMo, Sprouts, Ralphs, and Vons.

G. Vegan Flavored Wines

1. Love Olivia

I wrote about this wine before in my post best vegan wines at Trader Joe’s (see 10 Vegan Wines At Trader Joe’s You Need To Try) and in the post, I wrote about budget wines (see The Best Cheap Wines Under $5).

Love Olivia comes in two delightful flavors – watermelon and peach. Both are lovely, sweet fruity light wines to sip, especially at a summer picnic.

Grocery stores Love Olivia is often found at – Trader Joe’s

2. Stella Rosa

Vegan status – some Stella Rosa flavored wines are listed as vegan on Barnivore.

If you are vegan and love flavored wines, then Stella Rosa will be your new best friend. Whilst, not all their wines are vegan, a lot of their flavored wines are vegans such as their pineapple, peach, green apple, French vanilla, watermelon, and tropical mango (note the red apple is not vegan). They are also easy to track down.

I love the tropical mango (I love anything tropical). You can grab a bottle from Instacart here.

Grocery stores that often carry Stella Rosa flavored wines -Ralphs, BevMo, Walmart, Vons, Total Wine & More, Albertsons, and Target.

3. California Roots Sangria

H. Vegan Boxed Wines

Do you love the eco and cost-friendly nature of boxed wines? If so I, have you covered.

1. Our Daily Wines

Vegan status – vegan as stated on the box.

I talked about Our Daily Wines above – the USDA certified red blend and cabernet sauvignon that is marked as vegan friendly on the bottle. Well, it gets even better as both the red blend and the cabernet are available in box format.

You can get a bottle of their red blend via Instacart here.

Grocery stores Boxed Our Daily Wines can often be found – BevMo.

2. Wine Cube

Vegan status– rosé and reds (apart from Malbec) are vegan according to Barnivore.

A box of their merlot (think blueberry, tea, and cocoa) is available from Drizly here.

If a cabernet sauvignon with notes of black cherry and vanilla is more up your alley you can get a box of Wine Cube’s Cabernet Sauvignon here.

If rosé is your wine of choice you can try a box of their boxed rose from Drizly here. This boxed rose has all the raspberry and watermelon notes

Big Sipper reds work out the cheapest vegan wine I have found. A 5-liter box tends to be $9.99-$10.99. That means on a bottle basis (750ml) it works out to $1.50-$1.65. According to Barnivore, the reds are vegan, but the whites are not.

You can pick up a bottle of this bargain wine from Instacart here. The Cabernet Sauvignon (think intense and full-bodied with blackberry and spice notes).

If a medium-bodied and smooth red blend wine is more your thing then grab a box of Big Sipper’s red blend from Instacart here.

100 Best Vegan Wines – The Final Sip

Vegan Wines – what have we learned from this post? Well, if you are looking for vegan wine there are a whole host of options available. Sadly, what makes finding vegan wines sometimes so difficult is not so much a lack of vegan wine but clear and simple information on the wine bottle that simply tells you “…this wine is vegan”. The wine industry is getting better at this, and more and more wines are becoming certified vegan as well as listing vegan status on the bottle. But you will have noticed in this post the wines that were certified vegan or listed as vegan on the bottle were in the minority. So, rest assured it is not the case that no wines are vegan, rather most brands don’t make it clear enough that they are.
