Does Kroger have vegan wines? In this post, I am going to share with you the best vegan wines you can find at Kroger and its other main brand stores. If you live in the USA you will likely have visited a Kroger Store or one of its main spin-off brands such as Ralphs or Food 4 Less. Living in Los Angeles – Ralphs and Food 4 Less are the brands I most come across. But, regardless of which “Kroger” company you shop at – what exactly are the vegan wines available from Kroger stores? In a series of posts, I have already covered vegan wines from stores like Trader Joe’s, Sprouts, ALDI (including all 97 of their vegan wines), BevMo!, Whole Foods Market, and Publix. However, what are your options if you just want to get some vegan wine from your favorite Kroger Store? Well, that is exactly what I am going to tell you.
Does Kroger Have Vegan Wine?
Kroger has a wide selection of vegan wines. Kroger stocks vegan red wines like Menage A Trois red blend, Decoy Cabernet Sauvignon, 7 Deadly Zins Zinfandel, and Stella Rosa sparkling red. Kroger also stocks vegan white wines such as Jam Butter Chardonnay, Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio, and Frey Sauvignon Blanc, as well as vegan Roses such as Daou.
But First, Why Is Wine Not Vegan?
If you are reading this and thought “hold on, wine is not vegan?!” then sadly I am going to disappoint you. You see not all wine is vegan.
In my previous post, Why Is Wine Not Vegan – How To Know The Truth I talked about everything a vegan needs to know about wine. To give you a quick recap: most wines are not vegan. This is due to the common use of non-vegan fining agents (such as Isinglass, Egg Albumen, and Milk Proteins) in the clarification process. Fining agents are added to wines during clarification to clump together unwanted molecules, such as excess yeast and tannins which can then be easily removed during the filtration process.
And, yes, whilst there are vegan fining agents available the most used remain the non-vegan versions.
How Can I Make Sure My Wine Is Vegan?
“How can I make sure the wine I buy is vegan?”. Now that is a great question. Wine labeling laws mean that winemakers are not required to list ingredients or fining agents used on wine bottles. This can make it nearly impossible to know what wines are and what wines are not vegan. Some good news is that winemakers are increasingly labeling their wines as “vegan” or “non-fined”. Sadly, the majority continue not to put anything on the labels.
This led me to want to write an article to help you sort through all these non-vegan issues and pick a vegan wine from your favorite grocery store – in this case, Kroger and its related stores (like Ralphs).
The 15 Best Vegan Red Wines At Kroger
Below are my picks for the best 15 vegans wines from Kroger.
Vegan Red Wine at Kroger
1. Menage A Trois Silk Red Blend
If you are a regular here at Vegan Bev HQ you will have seen Menage A Trois wines pop up here a few times before. Menage A Trois is a super accessible wine that can be found in many grocery stores.
Not all their wines are vegan, but many are (so be careful exactly what you pick). Their Silk Red Blend, however, is vegan and is one of their best options.
This silky smooth and seductive red blend is made from a blend of pinot noir, malbec, and petite Sirah. You can treat yourself to a bottle from Kroger here.
2. Decoy Cabernet Sauvignon
Decoy is an amazing vegan wine brand to remember as it is super recognizable – all the bottles have a duck on the front. You can try a bottle of Decoy’s vegan Cabernet Sauvignon from Kroger here.
This wine delivers all the black raspberry, cherry, cassis, sweet French oak, and spice you would expect from a cabernet.
3. 7 Deadly Zins Zinfandel
As well as having a great name this Zinfandel has notes of chocolate cake, vanilla, spice, and wood smoke. 7 Deadly Zins indeed. You can buy a bottle from Kroger here.
4. Our Daily Wines Red Blend
Our Daily Wines is an incredible vegan and organic wine brand that contains “no detectible sulfites“. It also comes at an amazing price point (usually priced at around $8.99 to $10.99). You can try a bottle of their red blend from Kroger here.
5. Stella Rosa Black
Is a semi-sweet sparkling red more your kind of tipple? If so, make sure to check out Stella Rosa Black semi-sweet wine. This sparkling semi-sweet vegan red provides all the blackberry, blueberry, and raspberry notes. You can treat yourself to a bottle from Kroger here.
6. Daou Cabernet Sauvignon
Another Cabernet Sauvignon entry. This time from Daou. This cabernet has notes of plum and mulberry as well as fig and black olives. You can treat yourself to a bottle from Kroger here.
Vegan White Wines at Kroger
7. Frey Sauvignon Blanc
Frey is an incredible wine brand – all their wines are vegan as well as organic and have no Sulfites added. What is particularly great about Frey is that all their wines are vegan. For this entry, I chose their Sauvignon Blanc. It is crisp and acidic – the exact combo you want from a sauvignon.
You can buy a bottle from Kroger here.
8. Jam Butter Chardonnay
Jam Butter Chardonnay has been featured here in Vegan Bev HQ several times before. This is no surprise given this buttery vanilla lemony wine is completely vegan.
You can grab your bottle of this buttery delight from Kroger here.
9. Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio
My personal favorite style of white wine – this Pinot Grigio from Santa Margherita is a great Italian wine. It is vibrant and refreshing. Exactly what you want from a Pinot Grigio, and it is vegan. You can get a bottle from Kroger here.
10. La Crema Chardonnay
This La Crema Chardonnay is dry and full of stone fruit and yellow plum notes. You can get yourself a bottle of this dry vegan wine from Kroger here.
11. Stella Rosa Peach
Fancy a flavored white wine? Then this Stella Rosa Peach wine is the vegan wine from Kroger for you. It is made from Moscato grapes combined with peach flavoring. It is more of a unique flavor, but it is vegan and great for hot summer days when chilled. You can grab a bottle of this vegan wine from Kroger here.
12. Bogle Chardonnay
The final Chardonnay entry is from Bogle. You need to know that not all Bogle wines are vegan. However, this Chardonnay from them is. This Chardonnay has a strong flavoring of honeycomb and vanilla notes – what you expect from a Chardonnay. Find it at Kroger here.
Vegan Rose Wines at Kroger
13. Daou Rose
Is your wine of choice Rosé? If yes, you must try a bottle of Daou vegan Rosé next time you are in Kroger. Not only is the bottle luscious, but so is the wine with notes of mango, melon, lemon chiffon, and tangerine.
You can try a bottle from Kroger here.
14. Yes Way Rosé
Another beautiful bottle of vegan rose is available at Kroger. This time Yes Way Rose. You can try it from Kroger here.
15. Avaline Rose
The final entry on this list comes from none other than Cameron Diaz’s vegan wine brand – Avaline. Light, fresh, and zesty with melon notes. You can treat yourself to a bottle from Kroger here.
Does Kroger Have Vegan Wines – The Final Sip
Does Kroger have vegan wines? The good news is that yes, it does. Kroger has a pretty good selection of vegan wines. What makes this particularly great is that Kroger is one of the biggest grocery store chains in the USA. That means you should always be able to find some vegan wine where you are. Just remember – if you are thinking to yourself right now “but I don’t have any Kroger stores near me” fear not. It is probably just called something different – remember Kroger has a whole host of different brands of supermarkets including Ralphs, Food 4 Less, Baker’s, Food Co, City Market, Dillions, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, Gerbes, Jay C Food Store, Kind Soopers, Mariano’s, Metro Market, Pay-Less Super Markets, Pick’n Save, QFC, Ruler and Smith’s Food and Drug.
